This guide explains how to output audio to two headsets at the same time using a Mac. The headsets can be connected via USB-C, Bluetooth, AUX, or a combination of connection types.

Prerequisites

  • Two headsets connected to your Mac.
  • Both headsets are recognised and working individually.

Setup Steps

  1. Connect Both Headsets
Connect both headsets to your Mac using their preferred connection method (e.g. Bluetooth, AUX, USB, or USB-C).
  2. Open Audio MIDI Setup
    1. Open Apps
    2. Search for and open Audio MIDI Setup.
  3. Create a Multi-Output Device
    1. Click the + (plus) button in the bottom-left corner.
    2. Select Create Multi-Output Device.
  4. Add Both Headsets
In the right-hand pane, tick the checkbox next to each connected headset you want to use.
  5. Set the Multi-Output Device as the Audio Output
    1. Right-click (or Control-click) the newly created Multi-Output Device.
    2. Select Use This Device for Sound Output.
  6. Verify Sound Settings
    1. Open System Settings > Sound.
    2. Under Output, ensure the Multi-Output Device is selected.
    3. Play audio and confirm sound can be heard through both headsets.

Troubleshooting

One Headset Has No Audio

  • Confirm both headsets are connected and powered on.
  • Check that both devices are ticked within the Multi-Output Device settings.

Audio Is Out of Sync

  • In Audio MIDI Setup, enable Drift Correction for one of the output devices if available.

Multi-Output Device Is Missing

  • Reopen Audio MIDI Setup and recreate the Multi-Output Device.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the headsets if they are not visible.

Expected Result

Audio from your Mac will play simultaneously through both connected headsets, allowing two users to listen to the same audio source at the same time.
